Brandis

Brandis, Joanna was married to Thomas Brandis. In a formal agreement with James(i) Leigh, Lord of the Manor, in 1761 she was granted lease of a cottage in Adlestrop for life. Her will of 1763 bequeaths interest on £100 to any future husband for life then half interest to her sister Sarah Coombs, other half to Sarah Coombs' children and her sister Ann Powell equally for lives. Then £100 to the Lord of Manor and Parish Officers for interest to provide schooling for poor children of Adlestrop. Cottage in Adlestrop to her nephew William Norridge of Evesham for life then to her nephew James Coombs, Woodstock, for life of William Nash. One shilling to each of her brother's children, viz: William Coombs, Ann Powell, John Coombs and Elizabeth Coombs. Cased clock to be fixture of cottage during lease for lives. Clothes and residue of personal estate to sister Sarah Coombs. The Joanna Brandis Educational Foundation, which yielded £7 10s each year continued through to the closure of the school in 1936. The Foundation was registered as a charity in 1962 (no. 311656) and is run by Lord Christopher Dudley Piers Leigh of Fern Farm, Adlestrop and Mrs Judy Morgan of Appletree Cottage. She died in February 1765.

Brandis, John married Susannah Brandis of Evenlode 1 November 1763. The marriage was conducted by Rev. Thomas(iii) Leigh and witnessed by Thomas Carter and Joseph Brandis.

Brandis, Thomas was born in 1692. He was married to Joanna Brandis (married name). He died 3 September 1758 and was buried in the graveyard at Adlestrop.
